How we collect, use and protect your information. DRAFT. This text is a first version for review. It has not been checked by a lawyer, and highlighted [brackets] still need decisions or details.
1. About this policy
This policy explains what personal information AstroHQ ("we", "us") collects when you use our website and app, why we collect it, who sees it, how long we keep it and what choices you have. AstroHQ is run by [Company legal name], [Registered address]. By creating an account or using the service you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and/or mobile number, and the sign-in method you choose (a one-time code, a PIN, or a password). Your PIN and password are stored only in protected, one-way form.
- Birth details: date, time and place of birth for you, and for family members or others you add. These are sensitive. For anyone other than yourself you must have their permission, and we ask you to confirm it.
- Booking and service details: what you book, when, who with, the questions or wishes you share for a session, the details asked for a pooja or havan (for example the name used in the sankalp), and the advice or remedies a provider sends you afterwards.
- Payments: the amount, the plan or product, and the payment reference. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by our payment partner and are not stored by us. [Confirm payment partner name]
- Messages we send you: confirmations, reminders and alerts by email or SMS, and a record that they were sent (not their private content beyond what the message itself says).
- Reviews you write about a provider.
- For providers: your public profile (name, photo, about, personas, languages, years of practice), your credentials, and identity checks. For identity numbers such as PAN or Aadhaar we keep only the last four characters and the reference given by the verification partner, never the full number.
- Technical details: device and browser type, pages visited and error logs, kept to run and secure the service. We use essential cookies to keep you signed in.
3. Why we use it
- To create your account, let you sign in and keep it secure.
- To let you book, pay for and receive services, and to share what a provider needs to serve you.
- To send service messages: confirmations, reminders, changes and your remedies.
- To check and approve providers, handle complaints and keep the platform safe.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting duties.
- To improve the service, using summary information where we can.
We do not sell your personal information. We send promotional messages only if you have agreed to receive them, and you can stop them at any time.
4. Who sees your information
- The provider you book: sees what they need to serve you, such as your name, your birth details for that service and the details you give. They are asked to keep it private and use it only for your service.
- Our team: only as needed to run, support and keep the service safe.
- Service partners: payment, messaging (email, SMS), meeting and verification partners process data for us under their own terms. [List partners]
- Authorities: where the law requires us to share it.
Reviews you write are shown on the provider's page by first name only.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open and for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including legal and accounting records. [State retention periods, for example how long bookings and payment records are kept] When you delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal information, except what the law requires us to keep.
6. Your choices and rights
- See and correct your details, including the birth details you added, from your account.
- Download a copy of your data, and ask us to delete your account, from the data request pages on this site.
- Withdraw your consent to messages at any time.
- Ask us questions or make a complaint (see the Grievance Officer below).
7. Security
We protect your information with access controls, protected storage and secure connections. No service can promise perfect security, so please keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
8. Children
The service is for people aged 18 and over. [Confirm minimum age] A parent or guardian may add a child's birth details to their own account for a reading; we do not knowingly create accounts for children.
9. Cookies and other sites
We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and the site working. Our pages may load fonts or tools from other companies, which can see your device address when they do. Links to other sites are not covered by this policy. See also our Cookie Policy.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We will show the date of the latest version at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the service.
